A very big thank you to you and everyone involved in the 2013 Christmas Toy Appeal, run in partnership with St George’s Community Children’s Project. The response from the local community of Tunbridge Wells this year was once again fantastic.

This year 267 children, from babies to 17 year olds, received a sack of presents especially chosen for them, delivered to their family by their Social Worker, Health Visitor or other support worker, which goes to show how very worthwhile and vital this appeal is.

It is impossible to thank everybody involved individually but you will know what part you played and I cannot thank you enough for your time and generosity at such a busy time of year. From the collection points; giving trees; those who helped at the toy appeal HQ at the Big Yellow Self Storage Company; the helpers who wrapped presents and aided the distribution of toys; those who collected from the collection points; those who organised toy services and assemblies and for all the generous donations. Thank you!

I would like to say a special thank you to: Pam Bridges and her team who sort the gifts and make sure each child receives a soft toy, a book and an activity toy appropriate for their age – without Pam’s experience, organisational skills, dedication and leadership the appeal would not be possible;
The St George’s team, who co-ordinate and run the appeal;
The Town Hall staff who help co-ordinate and run the appeal, send out all the letters and provide admin support, press coverage and posters;
The Big Yellow Self Storage Company Ltd, which provides the working and storage space for free to make it all possible; and
Our anonymous gentleman who contributes £500 each year.
On behalf of all the children and families who you helped to make happier this Christmas, thank you. Each gift is being treasured by someone who would have had little or nothing to unwrap on Christmas Day.

Without you the Toy Appeal would not be possible. Thank you for thinking of others and supporting the Toy Appeal in 2013. Please feel free to display this letter and the attached poster.

Yours sincerely

Councillor Dr Ronen Basu
