Tunbridge Wells Road Racer Heads for the Isle of Man....T.T.
Local Tunbridge Wells motorcycle champion Danny Webb aged 22, will be heading for the most prestigious and greatest motorcycle races in the world this year, 2014...The Isle of Man T.T (Tourist Trophy).....it will be his first race on this world famous circuit! In May, when races start, Danny with his father Jimmy Webb ex – road racer, the race crew and mechanics will be on the island for practise, and eventually race to compete against fellow riders in the most gruelling, dangerous and exciting road race circuit in the world....!!! Many of the greatest motor cyclists of all times have raced the 37 ¾ miles long mountain circuit giving the most spectacular display of their skills ever seen as their speed around the streets and mountains are in excess of 150mph!
It just goes to show how speed and motorcycle technology has changed over the last 100+ years, for example, it was initially just 10 laps of the St John’s short course of 15 miles. The first race was held on the 28th May, 1907, the first winner in the single-cylinder class in 1907, was Charlie Collier who rode a Matchless....it took him 4 hours, 8 minutes and 8 seconds to complete the course laps...an average race speed of 38.21mph...!!!The winner of the twin-cylinder class was Remy Fowler riding a Peugeot with a Norton engine, his time to finish all the laps along the circuit was 4 hours, 21 minutes and 52 seconds setting an average race speed of 36.21mph
In 2013, just to see how the circuit times and machines have changed from those many who raced 100 years ago and since, today they are with equipped new technology, superbly tuned engines, special tyres, lightened frames, excellent suspension, and the determination of those men that ride is to win at all costs the most “Prestigious Road Race”...in the World – One of the Greatest examples is John McGuinness, in 2013, riding a Honda CBR 1000RR who completed the course in 17 minutes,11.572 seconds, averaging 131.671mph / 211.904km/h...His expertise on this circuit, as well as the others named is amazing in their own determination to “beat” the time previously set, and of course to walk away with the laurel of victory and a cup for the winner!

Legends such as Geoff Duke, Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini, Phil Read, John Surtees, (the only man ever to win a world championship on 2 and 4 wheels) Jim Redman, Luigi Taveri, Bill Ivy, Bob Macintyre, and those in later years to name just a few...John McGuinness, Joey Dunlop, Ian Hutchinson, Michael Dunlop, Guy Martin, David Jefferies...and many other Famous T.T. riders, too many famous racers to mention, who had given their utmost in endeavouring to win...the ultimate prize!

Danny Webb, will be riding a KMR Kawasaki, not only under the supervision of his father Jim, but with the expert knowledge of the mountain circuit with the support of Ryan Farquhar, manager and owner of the KMR team.He will be taking part and racing in the Dainese Superbike, RL 360 Superstock, Bikesocial.co.uk Lightweight, and the Pokerstars Senior T.T. races. Danny has had many years of knowledge and experience learnt not only from his Dad Jim, but seven years racing at Grand Prix level competing in the 125cc and the Moto 3 divisions of the sport. He left this style of racing last season and switched to the World Super-Sport championship. He mentioned that he was always a big fan of the T.T. and had set his sights on racing there for a long time...the opportunity soon came from Ryan Farquhar, so now he will race the famous mountain circuit with the full backing of a great team and leader. His debut will be seen by the hundreds of thousands who gather there every year in this, the most prestigious road race for motorcycles in the World! Our Very Best Wishes to You Danny....from us all at www.kentishtowns.com
